What kind of pain can yoga help with?
Yoga is effective for many chronic pain conditions such as;

  • arthritis, or joint pain

  • back pain

  • neck pain

  • migraines.

  • fibromyalgia

One study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine,  found that among 313 people with chronic low back pain, yoga increased mobility more than standard medical care for the condition.

A meta-analysis of 17 studies that included more than 1,600 participants, concluded that yoga can improve daily function among people with fibromyalgia osteoporosis-related curvature of the spine.
Yoga also helps improve emotional and mental well-being.

How does yoga relieve pain?

Yoga is a practice that connects the mind and body, and can help people with chronic pain by improving mobility and flexibility, reducing inflammation and discomfort, as well as helping cope with pain mentally.

Experiencing chronic pain can make it difficult to perform regular daily activities, resulting in decreased flexibility and limited range of motion. Yoga can provide improvements in functional ability, enabling a return to daily activities.  A meta-analysis showed that people who practiced yoga regularly for at least six weeks reported reductions in pain and improvements in mobility.
One of the greatest benefits of yoga is that it provides easy-to-do self-care practices, to help manage and mitigate pain. Living Well with Chronic Pain consists of three core elements: therapeutic yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation and can be beneficial for chronic pain at any age and regardless of experience level.

How yoga can help you heal?

Living Well with Chronic Pain  includes techniques to engage the parasympathetic nervous system.  When the body rests in the PNS state, your own natural healing mechanisms are activated.

Why did I create the Living Well with Chronic Pain masterclass?

The practices and techniques I share, gave me my life back. I suffered with chronic pain for years, after my body was struck by a car.  I still live with some chronic pain, (migraines), but thanks to yoga, I am able to manage and mitigate the pain, enabling me to live a full, happy, and meaningful life.
As a yoga therapist and yoga teacher, I have worked with people suffering from chronic pain conditions, for over 10 years.  My clients have included people suffering from trauma, (PTSD), back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, joint pain, anxiety, grief, traumatic injury, arthritis, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, migraine, post-surgery recovery.
