YOGA THERAPY

What is Yoga Therapy?

A wide range of conditions can be addressed through Yoga Therapy: structural problems such as low back pain, arthritis, shoulder pain: respiratory conditions such as asthma:  conditions involving the digestive system such as irritable bowel syndrome: other common health conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hypertension, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.

Whether you have a physical injury or a chronic condition , Yoga Therapy can facilitate and support your recovery.  Yoga Therapy is a customized regimen of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques designed to meet your specific health challenges and physical needs. The combination of breath and movement through yoga postures strengthens and balances the entire body, assisting the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems to function effectively and efficiently.

How Does Yoga Therapy work?

From a physical perspective, the combination of breath and movement through yoga postures strengthens and balances the entire organism, assisting metabolic function; the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems, to function effectively and efficiently.  Breath and meditation/relaxation techniques lower blood pressure, slow pulse and breathing, and improve mood and concentration, thus reprogramming the body’s habitual response to stress.

Yoga Therapy clients are actively engaged in developing and undertaking a customized personal care program.

What Does a Yoga Therapy Session Look Like?

I create a personalized session, designed to meet your health goals, and suit your individual abilities. This may include breathing work techniques, and mindfulness meditation, somatic and therapeutic yoga.

The session can be done in a chair, on a bed, or on a yoga mat, as per the preference of the client.  No special equipment or clothing is needed.

I offer a  tailored, multi-dimensional approach to improving the physical, mental, emotional health and overall well-being of my client.  Each session is as unique as each individual.
